Jumunjin Port & Lighthouse 주문진항·주문진등대
Gangneung · Jumunjin, Yeongok & Sacheon · Sights
Behind the market, a hill rises over the harbor, and a small white lighthouse stands on top with a view across the boats and the open sea. It is a short, gentle climb, and the setting is more charming than grand. In the evening, lights from squid boats glimmer on the water, and the smell of fish and sea air hangs over the pier.
The lighthouse is a good sunset stop after a market meal. Dress warmly because wind comes off the harbor. There is no admission fee.
Access to the lighthouse interior may be limited.
It is a short walk from Jumunjin Fish Market, near the bus terminal. From Gangneung, take a bus to Jumunjin (주문진) about 40 minutes.
