Gangmun Beach & Sotdae Bridge 강문해변·솟대다리
Gangneung · Anmok, Gangmun & Songjeong · Parks & nature
Linked to Gyeongpo by a quiet coastal road, Gangmun is smaller and calmer, with a short stretch of sand, a few seafood restaurants and a curving footbridge decorated with carved wooden bird poles. Sotdae are traditional poles topped with birds, believed to carry wishes between heaven and earth, and the shapes silhouette nicely against an orange sky. The area works well for an easy walk with no fixed itinerary: cross the bridge, sit on the sand and watch fishing boats.
In summer, the evening lights add a soft, romantic mood without the Gyeongpo crowds.
From Gangneung Station (강릉역) it is about a 20-minute taxi ride, or use a local bus toward Gangmun Beach. It is also a walkable stretch from Gyeongpo Beach.
