Myeonangjeong Pavilion 면앙정
Damyang · Myeongokheon, Songgangjeong & Myeonangjeong · Sights

Myeonangjeong was built by the scholar Song Sun, and it sits on the ridge of Jewol Peak with wide views over the plain below. The short staircase makes it easy for older visitors, and from the wooden floor you can look at rice fields that change color through the year. The pavilion has been described in classical poems, which is why it counts among the key stops on the Gasa literature trail.
There is little else on the hill, so it is a quiet, short stop of about 30 to 40 minutes. Visit in good weather, because the view is the whole point. As at other pavilions, take your shoes off before stepping onto the floor and avoid loud talking.
By car from Damyang town, about 15 minutes; parking is limited at the foot of the stairs. (Show a driver: 면앙정)
