This stone fortress was built along the ridge of Geumseong Mountain, on the boundary between Damyang and neighboring Sunchang, and parts of the wall are still standing. The best-known section is around Boguk Gate. The climb is steep and stony, and it takes around two hours round trip depending on where you start, so it is for walkers who are comfortable on uneven ground.

In return you get wide views and peace, and in autumn the slopes light up in color. Driving up reduces the walk but the roads are narrow. Check weather first, as the ridge is exposed.

Getting there

It is a car or taxi trip from Damyang town, about 25 to 30 minutes, and public buses are rare. Drive as close as the trailhead lot and walk up. (Show a driver: 금성산성)
