Gamagol is a park built around a stream valley that is said to be the source of the Yeongsan River, with a deep pool locally called Yongso. The trail follows the water through forest, and a suspension bridge adds some variety. Noise from the stream keeps the air cool even in summer.

Most of the route is flat or only mildly sloped, so children and older adults can manage it. Simple mountain restaurants near the entrance serve duck, chicken and catfish stew. After heavy rain the stream rises and the path can be dangerous, so skip it then.

It is far from the town center, so plan a half day.

Getting there

By car it is around 30 minutes north of Damyang town, and the public lot is at the park entrance. Public transport is very limited. (Show a driver: 가마골생태공원)
