Gugok Falls is a tall waterfall at the head of a wooded valley, reached by a walk of twenty to thirty minutes from the parking area. The path is mostly gentle but has some stairs, and a small entrance fee is charged. In summer the cool air and spray are welcome, and in January and February the fall can freeze into an ice wall that attracts climbers and photographers.

Beyond the falls, a trail over a ridge leads to a small mountain hamlet that serves simple meals, if you are able to walk further. Allow about two hours in total. Water volume depends on the season, and winter walking calls for good grip.

Getting there

From Gangchon Station, take a local bus or taxi for about 10 minutes to the Gugok Falls parking area, then walk in. (Show a driver: 구곡폭포)
