Kim Yu-jeong Literary Village 김유정문학촌
Chuncheon · Kim Yu-jeong & Gangchon · Museums & exhibits

This literary village in Sille Village preserves the birthplace of Kim Yu-jeong, a Korean writer of the 1930s whose humorous rural stories, such as Spring, Spring and Camellia, are still widely read. Thatched houses have been rebuilt, and a memorial hall explains his short life through manuscripts, photographs and video. Reading a translated story beforehand makes the signs and statues much more fun, though English information on site may be limited.
The village hosts seasonal events and the surrounding hills turn yellow with ginger-tree flowers in early spring. Opening hours may change, and the site is closed on Mondays.
Walk about five minutes from Gimyujeong Station on the Gyeongchun Line; the village has its own car park. (Show a driver: 김유정문학촌)
