Yuklim-gogae Alley — Chuncheon Myeongdong & Jungang Market
Photo: Korea Tourism Organization (KOGL)

A steep lane that once served an old theater has been revived with small restaurants, pubs, craft studios and a few cafes, and it is the most photogenic part of the old town. The mood is relaxed and a little retro, with hand-painted signs and mural-covered walls. It is not a place with big sights; the pleasure is in wandering up and down, stopping for a drink or a snack, and looking at what the small shops sell.

In the evening it fills with locals and younger visitors, so expect some noise on weekends. Because it is a slope with stairs, strollers and wheelchairs will find it difficult.

Getting there

Walk through the Chuncheon Jungang Market and follow the signs uphill; it takes about five minutes. Leave the car in a public lot near the market. (Show a driver: 육림고개)
