Daewondang Bakery 대원당
Chuncheon · Myeongdong & Jungang Market · Cafe
Daewondang is a long-standing Chuncheon bakery with a loyal local following, and a visit feels like stepping into the city's food memory. The signature items are butter cream bread and the large, sweet mammoth bread, along with a rotating selection of classic Korean bakery sweets. The shop is said to have moved into a new multi-floor building in recent years, where you can sit and have bread with coffee instead of just taking it away.
Popular loaves can sell out later in the day, so go earlier if you have one particular item in mind. It is an easy treat to buy as a gift and carry on the train. Prices and hours may vary.
It is about five minutes by taxi from Namchuncheon Station, near the Seoksa Bridge intersection on Toegye-ro; there is a car park at the shop. (Show a driver: 대원당)
