Myeongdong Dakgalbi Alley 명동닭갈비골목
Chuncheon · Myeongdong & Jungang Market · Sights
Dakgalbi, spicy marinated chicken stir-fried with cabbage, sweet potato and rice cakes on a big iron plate, is the dish Chuncheon is known for, and this pedestrian lane in the old town is where most visitors eat it. Dozens of restaurants face each other, many with signs showing the number of years they have been open. A staff member usually does the cooking at your table, so you only need to eat.
Portions are sized for two people, which can make it awkward for solo travelers, though a few shops will serve one portion. Finish with the fried rice scraped into the leftover sauce, a step locals consider mandatory.
From Chuncheon Station or Namchuncheon Station, take a city bus toward Myeongdong and walk a few minutes from the stop, or take a taxi for about 10 minutes. Public parking lots are nearby. (Show a driver: 명동닭갈비골목)
