Seomyeon is Busan's downtown crossroads, and a wide pedestrian street with clothing, cosmetics, food and bars lies at its center. Underground, a long shopping arcade links to the subway, which makes it handy in rain or cold. By evening, restaurant signs light up the alleys, and street vendors sell snacks.

It is young, crowded and noisy, and you will see more locals than tourists here. It is best enjoyed as a walk in the late afternoon or early evening, with a food stop. Stores keep varied hours and some close on certain days.

Pickpocketing is rare, but crowded areas call for the usual care.
