Boryeong Undersea Tunnel 보령해저터널

Opened at the end of 2021, this undersea road tunnel links Daecheon Port with Wonsando and the islands beyond. It is often described as one of the longest undersea road tunnels in the world, and the drive through takes roughly ten minutes. There is no tunnel walk or viewing point inside; the appeal is practical, because it turned island trips into a simple drive.

Wonsando has beaches, a few restaurants and cafes, while a bridge continues toward Anmyeondo. There is no toll as far as we know, though that can change. Use it as part of a loop day and plan your return before the afternoon traffic builds.

Getting there

Drive from the Daecheon Port side; the entrance is signposted for Wonsando. Buses and taxis can reach the island, but transport is limited, so a car is much easier. (Show a driver: 보령해저터널)

Pair it with
On the far side, Wonsando Beach and Obongsan Beach are the easiest stops, and Ocheon Port is the alternative route.

Local tip
Stopping and overtaking inside the tunnel are not allowed, and section speed enforcement applies, so keep to the limit. Weekend afternoons back up near the Daecheon Port entrance, so cross early in the day.
