Toegye Jongtaek 퇴계종택
Andong · Dosan Seowon & Yekki Village · Sights

Descendants of Toegye Yi Hwang still live in this head house, which makes it a living place instead of a monument. The present buildings were rebuilt in the early twentieth century in the old style, with a large yard, a men's quarters, a women's main house and a shrine behind. The meaning lies in family continuity, with generations performing rites for their ancestors.
Out of respect, stay near the gate and yard edges and do not enter private rooms. A visit lasts about thirty minutes. It fits well with Dosan Seowon.
It is about ten minutes by car from Dosan Seowon along the lake road; public buses are scarce. (Show a driver: 퇴계종택)
