Gyeongbuk Provincial Government Complex 경북도청 신청사

A government building that people visit for its looks. The provincial capitol, moved from Daegu in 2016, applies hanok proportions to a modern design, with huge tiled roofs and layered eaves. Out front, a pond, a corridor and a planted Millennium Forest create a landscaped walking area.

Families spread mats on the lawn on weekends. It sits in a new town between Andong and Yecheon, with a restaurant district around it for dinner. A loop takes under an hour.

Visitors can wander the grounds, though interiors are for official business and security may apply. It makes a modern contrast with Hahoe and the academies.

Getting there

By taxi it is about 25 minutes from the old town; city buses connect via the new town, but timing is awkward. (Show a driver: 경북도청 신청사)
