Hahoe Mask Museum 하회세계탈박물관
Andong · Hahoe Village & Byeongsan Seowon · Museums & exhibits

Beside the entrance to Hahoe, this private museum starts with the Hahoe masks used in the village's ritual drama and extends to masks from many parts of Korea and across the world. The Hahoe displays are the highlight: the yangban noble mask has a separate jaw, so tilting the head turns its smile into a frown. Each character, from the old woman to the bride, shows a distinct personality.
Comparing them with masks from Africa, Asia and Europe interests children too. Allow about fifty minutes. A Hahoe Village ticket may include the museum, so check at the gate.
A snack and shaved-ice stand operates inside.
It stands next to the Hahoe entrance area, near the shuttle stop. Reach Hahoe by bus from Andong or taxi in 40 minutes. (Show a driver: 하회세계탈박물관)
