Andong produced more recognized independence fighters than almost any other area, and this memorial hall explains why. Displays trace how scholar families who spent their lives in classical study left for Manchuria and founded military schools to resist colonial rule. The hall stands at the entrance to Naeap Village, home to the Uiseong Kim clan, which sent many members into the movement.

After the exhibits you can stroll to the clan head house and the old home of Kim Dae-rak. Allow about an hour for the hall and another for the village. Closed Mondays.

A car helps because public transport is sparse. Admission is typically free.

Getting there

By car or taxi it takes about 40 minutes from the old town toward Imha; buses are infrequent, so confirm before going. (Show a driver: 경북독립운동기념관)
