Andong City Museum & Open-Air Folk Village — Andong Woryeonggyo Bridge & Andong Lake
Photo: Korea Tourism Organization (KOGL)

Formerly the Andong Folk Museum, it follows a local person's life through rites of birth, first birthday, wedding, mourning and ancestor worship. The models and objects make it easy to follow even without much Korean. Behind the building a hillside open-air area holds old houses and pavilions that were relocated when Andong Dam was built, including kkachigumeong-style farmhouses with small ventilation holes.

Walking the paths gives views down toward the river. Allow about an hour and a half for both indoor and outdoor parts. Fees are modest.

English labels may be partial, so ask for a leaflet. It sits right beside Woryeonggyo.

Getting there

It is a few minutes' walk uphill from the north end of Woryeonggyo; a taxi from the old town takes about 10 minutes. (Show a driver: 안동시립박물관)
