Manseongri Black Sand Beach — Yeosu Odongdo, Expo Site & Manseongri

A short curving beach covered in fine black sand, that is the main draw and gives the shore a dramatic look against the blue water. Locals have long believed in the sand's health benefits, but treat that as folklore. The beach is small, with a gentle slope and a quiet mood outside summer.

The approach road passes through an old narrow tunnel built under Japanese rule, which allows only one vehicle at a time, so traffic can queue in peak season. There are cafes and a rail bike line nearby, which makes it easy to extend the visit. Swimming is for summer only, and lifeguards are not always present.

Getting there

It is a 10 to 15 minute taxi ride from Yeosu-Expo Station. (Show a driver: 만성리 검은모래해변)
