Songcheon Rice Cake Village (Songcheon Tteok Maeul) 송천떡마을

Fun & activitiesFun & activitiesFood & marketsOutdoorBooking recommended for the rice-cake making experience

This small farming village lets visitors pound steamed rice with a wooden mallet, then shape the sticky dough into rice cakes dusted with bean powder. Activities are straightforward and children usually love it, as do adults who want to do something with their hands. You can eat what you make while it is warm, and the village also sells packaged rice cakes.

Booking ahead is wise, particularly in the busy autumn season and on weekends. Rice cake prices are modest and may change. Bring a jacket on cold days, because part of the activity happens outdoors.

Kids will need help with the heavy mallet, so go in a small group.

Getting there

The village is in Seo-myeon, reached by road from Yangyang town; park in the open ground at the entrance. Public transport is limited, so go by car. (Show a driver: 송천떡마을)
