Tongyeong Central Traditional Market 통영중앙전통시장
Tongyeong · Old Town, Gangguan & Dongpirang · Shopping

This is Tongyeong's main covered market, with a live fish section and an alley of dried seafood that smells of the sea. The earlier you arrive, the more lively the stalls feel, as boats' catches are sorted and sold. At the entrance you will find shops selling chungmu gimbap, which is rice rolls served with spicy squid and radish kimchi, and also the honey-filled pastries the city is known for.
Many shops will vacuum-pack dried goods for travel, so ask if you want gifts. Prices at the fish section vary by season, and some vendors accept only cash or Korean cards, so carry a little money. It is a short walk from the harbor.
It is a short walk from Gangguan Harbor and about 10 minutes by taxi from Tongyeong Intercity Bus Terminal. (Show a driver: 통영중앙전통시장)
