Sebyeongwan Hall 세병관
Tongyeong · Old Town, Gangguan & Dongpirang · Sights

Sebyeongwan was the main hall of the Three Provinces Naval Command that Joseon built after Admiral Yi's era, and it is among the largest surviving wooden government buildings in Korea. Thick pillars march across an open wooden floor beneath an unpainted, plain ceiling, so the mood is dignified rather than decorative. Take off your shoes where signs allow and look across the courtyard from between the pillars; it is easy to picture orders being given here.
Other restored buildings of the command stand nearby. There is very little shade in the yard, so choose early morning or late afternoon. Hours may vary.
It is in the old town, about 10 minutes on foot from Gangguan Harbor, with a paid lot at the naval command site. (Show a driver: 세병관)
