Miraesa Temple 미래사
Tongyeong · Mireuk Island & Cable Car · Sights

Miraesa is a mountain temple on the Mireuksan side, reached by a road lined with a cypress grove that smells fresh in warm weather. The forest walk is the main draw, because the trees create a cool, green tunnel. The temple was founded by a monk named Hyobong, and it keeps a calm, working-monastery mood.
Admission is free, but photography near prayer halls should be respectful. The access road is gently inclined, so wear shoes with grip. You are unlikely to meet crowds, which makes it a peaceful break from the more famous stops.
Bring water, as nothing is sold nearby, and plan for a taxi or car, since public transport options are sparse.
The road runs off the Mireuksan side; take a taxi from the old town, about 15 minutes, as buses are infrequent. (Show a driver: 미래사)
