The old gate street outside Jeonbuk National University is a student district, packed with cafes, bars, snack shops and inexpensive restaurants. Prices are lower than in the tourist center, so it is a good place for budget meals, and the mood is youthful and unfussy. At night, music and chatter fill the lanes, and the bars are popular with local groups.
It is not a historic sight, just a lively slice of everyday Jeonju. Most places take cards, but check small snack stands.
