Jeonju Hanji Museum 전주한지박물관
Jeonju · Deokjin, Jeonbuk Univ. & Palbok · Museums & exhibits
Jeonju Hanji Museum is dedicated to hanji, the handmade Korean paper made from mulberry bark, which Jeonju has produced for centuries. Exhibits show the process, from boiling bark to lifting wet sheets from the vat, and displays of paper crafts, lanterns and boxes. A hands-on paper-making workshop needs a reservation through the museum website and is a hit with children.
Admission is free and the museum is closed on Mondays. The exhibits may be mostly in Korean, so check whether an English guide is available. Plan around 70 minutes.
The museum is in northern Jeonju, about 25 minutes from the Hanok Village by taxi. Show the Korean name to a driver. (Show a driver: 전주한지박물관)
