Udo Island 우도
Jeju · Seongsan & Seopjikoji · Sights
A small island just off the east coast, shaped like a lying cow, with pale sand beaches, stone walls and fields of peanuts and barley. A ferry crosses from Seongsan Port in about 15 minutes, and visitors bring passports for ID checks. On the island, electric scooters and a circular bus are the main way around, since vehicle access for visitors is restricted.
Stops include cliffs, lighthouses and a coral-sand beach where the water looks Caribbean-bright. Allow a half day to a full day. Check the last return ferry time, because missing it means a night on the island.
Take the ferry from Seongsan Port, which is about 1 hour 20 minutes by car from Jeju Airport, with parking near the terminal. Another ferry leaves from Jongdal in the north-east. (Show a driver: 우도)
