Yongduam Rock & Yongdam Coastal Road 용두암·용담해안도로

SightsNature & parksPhoto spotsHistory & palacesOutdoorPet-friendly

A dark basalt outcrop shaped by waves into something that looks like a dragon's head rising from the sea, which is where the name comes from. The rock itself takes only a few minutes to photograph, so the real reward is the stretch of coastal road running east and west of it, lined with seafood restaurants and cafes with large windows facing the water. Because Jeju Airport is so close, many travelers use this as a gentle first stop while waiting for a rental car or as a last sunset on departure day.

Locals fish from the rocks, and the sea can look dramatic when the wind is up. No admission is charged, and there is a small paved viewing area.

Getting there

It is roughly ten minutes by car or taxi from Jeju Airport, with a small public parking lot beside the rock. City buses from downtown Jeju also pass along the coastal road. (Show a driver: 용두암·용담해안도로)
