Jayu Park 자유공원
Incheon · Open Port District & Wolmido · Parks & nature

Opened in the late 1880s, this hilltop park was designed with help from a foreign engineer and became the first Western-style park in the country. Wide paths run under old cherry and pine trees, and the plaza at the far end looks out over the cranes of Incheon port and the low profile of Wolmido beyond. A statue of General Douglas MacArthur stands here for his role in the 1950 landing at Incheon, and the nearby Korea-US Centennial Monument marks later ties.
Older locals gather on benches to play baduk and talk, which adds to the unhurried feel. Spring blossoms make it especially pretty. Amenities are simple.
Walk about 15 minutes uphill from Chinatown or Incheon Station (인천역), or take a short taxi ride. (Show a driver: 자유공원)
