Oreung Royal Tombs 오릉
Gyeongju · Namsan & Southwest · Sights
Five large grass mounds, said to contain the first Silla king and his queen, stand in a pine grove away from the main tourist routes. A looping path takes about 45 minutes at a stroll, and compared with Daereungwon it is peaceful, with few tour groups. Birds, a tall-tree canopy and open lawn give the place a park-like feel, and in spring cherry blossoms add color.
Admission is small and may change; ask on site about English leaflets. It is a good choice for a quiet morning walk. Because it sits on the south edge of the city, it pairs well with a snack from a nearby gimbap shop.
Take a city bus to the Oreung stop; it is about a 20-minute walk from Hwangnidan-gil. Free parking is on site. (Show a driver: 오릉)
