Juknokwon Bamboo Garden 죽녹원
Damyang · Damyang Town & Juknokwon · Parks & nature

Juknokwon is a hillside bamboo park right at the edge of Damyang town, opened in the early 2000s, and it is the first stop for most visitors. Stairs from the gate lead into groves of thick bamboo that creak and rustle overhead, and the paths split into eight themed trails. Walking all of them takes close to two hours, but the first two or three loops already give you the shaded, slightly cooler air and the green light the place is known for.
Wear shoes with grip, because the steps get slick after rain. A bamboo-themed snack or ice cream stand near the exit is a nice reward after the climb.
From Damyang Bus Terminal it is a short taxi ride or a walk of roughly 20 minutes. Drivers can use the public lot at the main gate or the rear-gate lot on Jukhyang Culture Road. (Show a driver: 죽녹원)
