Soyang River Dam 소양강댐
Chuncheon · Soyang Dam & Cheongpyeongsa · Sights

Soyang River Dam is among Korea's largest dams, built from earth and rock, and walking along the crest gives a wide view of Soyang Lake on one side and a long slope down to the river on the other. It is a simple but impressive place, with a plaza, wind and a feeling of scale. The dam is also the departure point for ferries to Cheongpyeongsa, so most visitors combine both.
Free to visit, it takes about an hour. On clear spring and autumn days the lake is bright blue, and at dusk the sky reflects on the surface. Public buses terminate near the dam, but services are infrequent, so check return times.
From Chuncheon Station, take a bus toward Soyang Dam for about 30 minutes to the terminal, and walk toward the pier; with a car, use the parking lot near the crest. (Show a driver: 소양강댐)
