Cheongpyeongsa Temple 청평사
Chuncheon · Soyang Dam & Cheongpyeongsa · Sights

After the ferry, a walk of about thirty minutes follows a valley stream up to Cheongpyeongsa, a Buddhist temple on the slopes of Obong Mountain. The path passes small waterfalls and a pool tied to a legend about a princess and a serpent, and the sound of water follows you most of the way. The temple itself is peaceful, with old buildings and a deep back-mountain feel.
Admission is a small fee. The walk is easy but uphill, so decent shoes are helpful. Autumn color is excellent, and early summer brings strong greenery and flowing water.
Plan around the boat timetable, since missing the last one means a long detour back.
Take the ferry from the Soyang River Dam pier to the Cheongpyeongsa landing, then walk 30 minutes up the valley; by car, a road around the mountain reaches the temple car park. (Show a driver: 청평사)
