Chuncheon Ongsimi 춘천옹심이
Chuncheon · Soyanggang River & Geunhwa-dong · Meal
Ongsimi are small, chewy dumplings made from grated potato, a Gangwon Province specialty, and this restaurant serves them in a clear, gently seasoned soup. The dumplings have a springy bite with a faint sweetness, a bit like gnocchi in broth. It is a calm, comforting dish, which makes it useful if you have been eating dakgalbi and makguksu for days or are traveling with someone who dislikes spice.
A side of kimchi comes with the bowl. Portions are generous, and the restaurant is small and informal. On cold or rainy days the warm soup is especially welcome.
Prices and hours may change, so check ahead if you plan around it.
It is on a side street opposite the skywalk entrance, about a 15-minute walk from Chuncheon Station. Use the skywalk public parking lot. (Show a driver: 춘천옹심이)
