Gangwon Hwamokwon Botanical Garden 강원특별자치도립화목원
Chuncheon · Soyanggang River & Geunhwa-dong · Parks & nature

This provincial garden has outdoor flower beds, tree collections, greenhouses full of tropical plants and a small forest museum. The grounds are wide and quiet, with lawns for walking and benches under shade, so it works well for families, older travelers and anyone who wants an hour away from crowds. Spring azaleas and flowers and late-October foliage are the most colorful periods.
In wet or cold weather, the greenhouses keep the visit pleasant. Admission is inexpensive, and a loop through the main areas takes around an hour and a half. It is in a residential suburb a little away from the central sights, so plan transport.
From Chuncheon Station, take a city bus for around 20 minutes toward Hwamokwon-gil in Sanong-dong, or a taxi. A dedicated car park is available. (Show a driver: 강원특별자치도립화목원)
