Seongjusa Temple Site 보령 성주사지
Boryeong · Boryeong Downtown, Seongjusan & Gaehwa · Sights

The ruins of a large Buddhist temple that flourished in the Unified Silla era. Today the site is an open field with stone pagodas, a stele and the foundations of former halls, all arranged in a clear line that shows how big the complex once was. The quiet landscape, framed by mountains, makes it a peaceful stop even without a guide.
A small museum or visitor hall nearby explains the history and displays finds. It is a good place for travelers interested in Korean history who like to walk in the open air. Entry to the site is free as far as we know.
From Boryeong city take a taxi (about 25 to 30 minutes) or a local bus toward Seongju. By car it is a short drive from Gaehwa Art Park. (Show a driver: 성주사지)
