Sinse-dong Mural Village 신세동 벽화마을
Andong · Downtown & Old Market · Sights

Painted staircases and walls turn a hillside neighborhood east of downtown into an outdoor gallery. The illustrations are storybook-like, often with short messages, and the climb rewards you with a roofline view over the old city and river. Most houses are lived in, so avoid looking into gates, and keep voices low.
Streets are steep and the pavement uneven, so sturdy shoes matter more than a stroller. Set aside about an hour for a slow loop and photos. Sunset gives the warmest light, and later the lanes become dark with few shops open.
There is no ticket, but food and drink must be bought elsewhere beforehand.
It is on a hill east of the old center, about ten minutes by taxi from the KTX station area, or a 20-minute walk from Culture Street. (Show a driver: 신세동 벽화마을)
