Hyangiram Hermitage — Yeosu Dolsan Island & Hyangiram
Photo: Korea Tourism Organization (KOGL)

Perched on a cliff at the southern tip of Dolsan Island, this temple is known for a staircase that squeezes between large boulders and for a view across the South Sea. The climb is steep, so wear shoes with grip and take your time. A small admission fee may apply, and prices may change.

Temple courtyards are quiet, and visitors are expected to dress modestly and speak softly. Many Koreans arrive before dawn for the New Year sunrise or a clear morning view. The road is long, and public buses are limited, so a taxi or rental car is easiest.

Wind can be strong on the terrace.

Getting there

It is about 45 to 60 minutes by taxi or car from downtown Yeosu, with a parking lot below the temple. (Show a driver: 향일암)
