Namsangol Hanok Village 남산골한옥마을
Seoul · Myeongdong & Namsan · Sights
Namsangol Hanok Village gathers five restored houses from different parts of Seoul onto a quiet slope at the foot of Namsan, with a pond, a pavilion and landscaped paths. It is not a living neighborhood like Bukchon, so photographing is relaxed, and tickets are not needed. The houses range from a modest commoner home to a grander aristocratic residence, which teaches how class shaped design.
A time capsule buried in 1994 is also displayed. Visitors can try traditional games such as yut, jegichagi and tuho, and seasonal cultural events are held in the courtyard. Programs and hours may change, and it closes one weekday.
Chungmuro Station (충무로역), Lines 3 and 4, Exit 3 or 4, is a five-minute walk. Follow the signs toward Namsangol.
