Sanbangsan & Yongmeori Coast 산방산·용머리해안
Jeju · Jungmun & Andeok · Parks & nature
Sanbangsan is a dome-shaped volcanic mountain that dominates the south-west plain, and beneath it Yongmeori Coast is a shoreline of layered sandstone cliffs that looks like a dragon's head. A paved path winds along the cliff base, and at certain tides the walkway is closed because the waves reach it. Nearby is a replica of the ship used by Hendrik Hamel, a Dutch sailor wrecked on the coast in 1653.
In spring, rapeseed flowers carpet the fields at the foot of the mountain, and photographers set up with Sanbangsan behind the yellow. The cliff walk takes about 30 minutes; ticket fees apply and may change.
About one hour by car from Jeju Airport, with parking near the ticket office. Local buses pass the area on the south-west route. (Show a driver: 산방산·용머리해안)
