Bulguksa Temple 불국사
Gyeongju · Bulguksa, Seokguram & Bomun · Sights
Built on a hillside, this temple is Korea's best-known Buddhist site and a UNESCO World Heritage listing, famed for two stone pagodas, Dabotap and Seokgatap, in the main courtyard. Stone staircases, wooden halls and colorful eaves climb the slope, with bells and lanterns adding texture. Entry is charged, though the price may change; card and cash are usually accepted.
English signage is available, and an audio guide may exist, so ask. Early mornings are calmer before tour buses arrive. Set aside about two hours, and wear shoes you can climb in.
Seokguram, higher on the mountain, can be reached by a connecting bus.
Take bus 10 or 11 from downtown, about 40 minutes; confirm the numbers on site. By car, use the paid lot. Buses to Seokguram leave from near here. (Show a driver: 불국사)
