Chuknyeongsan Mountain — Gapyeong Sangmyeon, Morning Calm & Jat Hyanggi
Photo: Korea Tourism Organization (KOGL)

A forested mountain on the border with a neighboring city, with broadleaf woods, ridge views and a popular day hike. First-timers can stop at the ridge viewpoints rather than going all the way to the top, and should decide on a turnaround time in advance. Azaleas bloom in late spring and the leaves turn in autumn, which are the best times for views.

Most routes have no entry fee. Start in the morning, bring water and sturdy shoes, and descend before dark, since mountain paths can be hard to follow without light. It is a quieter alternative to the garden crowds nearby.

Getting there
