Jathyanggi Blue Forest — Gapyeong Sangmyeon, Morning Calm & Jat Hyanggi
Photo: Korea Tourism Organization (KOGL)

A forest of tall pine nut trees, with gently graded paths, a forest-healing program and a calm, resin-scented air. Entry uses a self-service ticket kiosk, which makes the visit simple, and the healing programs usually need advance booking. It is closed on Mondays, so check the day before you go.

The paths suit families and older walkers, with little climbing, and the shade is a relief in early summer. Snowy winter mornings are equally memorable when the branches are white. Allow one to two hours, and carry water, since there are few shops once you are inside the forest.

Getting there

Drive to the entrance on Chungnyeong-ro in Sangmyeon, where the car park is; use a taxi if you have no car. (Show a driver: 잣향기푸른숲)
