A large landscaped arboretum known for carefully designed themed gardens, a pond, a bonsai section and views across the valley. Spring brings flowering trees and tulips, October brings fiery maples, and in winter the grounds are lit up in a colorful light festival that is a seasonal highlight. The last admission is earlier than closing, so allow a generous window.

Weekend evenings during the lights are busy, so arrive near opening, and admission varies by season. Allow two to three hours to walk the whole garden, wear comfortable shoes, and bring a warm layer in winter, when the valley gets cold after dark.

Getting there

It is on Sumokwon-ro in Sangmyeon and best reached by car or taxi; a circulation bus is said to serve it, but check current service. (Show a driver: 아침고요수목원)
