Heo Gyun & Heo Nanseolheon Memorial Park 허균·허난설헌 기념공원
Gangneung · Gyeongpo & Chodang · Sights
Heo Gyun was a Joseon writer best remembered for a story about an outlaw hero, and his sister Heo Nanseolheon was a gifted poet who died young. The park preserves their family home site among tall pines, with a small exhibition room and grassy paths. It is not a place with dramatic sights, which is its charm: a calm stretch of shade between busier stops.
Chodang, the neighborhood around it, is famous for tofu made with seawater, so many travelers eat first and then wander over. Some signs have only Korean text, so a translation app is useful.
Take a taxi from Gangneung Station (강릉역) for roughly 15 to 20 minutes, or a bus toward Chodang. The tofu restaurants are a few minutes away on foot.
